There’s been a shift in our culture away from wearing wedding rings, which has stirred up debate over whether the rings are still necessary or if they’ve become an outdated concept.

I rarely take my ring off, and if I do, it is quickly put on after the task that doesn't permit the ring (e.g jobs that requires the ring to be off).  So some of these might just be a matter of my own personal preference, but I believe there are some very important reasons to wear your ring. I’m certainly not trying judge people who choose not to wear their ring, but I do strongly believe there are important reasons to wear it.

Below are a few of the most important reasons:

1. In Public…

Wearing your ring in public shows the world that you value your spouse and the covenant of your marriage. When you meet someone new for the first time, one of the very first things they are likely to notice about you is whether or not you’re wearing a wedding ring, and they’ll often make assumptions (whether true or untrue) about your character and your “availability” based on the presence or absence of a ring.

2. In Private…

I wear my ring even when I’m alone, because it reminds me that everything I do, whether in public or in private, doesn’t affect myself only, but also impacts my wife, Evelyn. Wearing my ring in private is also a tangible way to be constantly reminded of our constant connection whether we’re physically together or apart.

3. When together with your spouse…

We wear our rings together when it’s just the two of us, as a visual symbol of our past promises, our present blessings and our shared destiny for the future. When we’re holding hands and feel each other’s ring, it’s another tangible reminder of the beautiful commitment we have with each other.
Wearing your ring is a simple way to visibly display the place of priority your spouse has in your heart and in your life.
Wedding bands signify a number of important elements in a couple's life: eternal love, devotion, commitment, fidelity, honour and respect and the bond of unity.

Note: This article is meant for those who actually exchanged rings as a sign of their marriage covenant on their wedding day.

  1. Enter your comment...you have said it all and pointed out the major points . For some people just wear it to show off (they count it as fashion oh! Its pure gold! , its a diamond Ring..etc) and not regarding the great significance. I bless God for my marriage and how much I value, cherish and treasure it to the glory of God. Wearing my wedding ring has become part of me,its always on my finger and I don't feel complete any little time i remove it. To me it would be like I'm walking naked on the street. (Lol). I've heard people say we are copying the whites bla! Bla! Bla! Some would say I don't need to wear it to show my spouse I love him/her, oh! Its just like any other ring .....this and that. But to me its more than that.,for it goes a very long way and not just for the fun of it. It shows that one is responsible,it shows discipline ,trust, sincerity, true love, it shows how much you value eachother, it reflects the bond you share just to name a few. I would also say its more like a mirror (lol) cos I look at it and see my wife's lovely smile and I'm always happy. I flaunt it when ever I notice a lady stares at me in a way that's .... You know? Lol! And I don't care whatever anyones feels or say. Cos I value am well well o! Hahahahahaha! Couples please let's value our marriages and shame the devils out there. God bless.
