Anthony Lopez, 31, is led out of the 121 Precinct in Graniteville after police arrested and charged him with the murder and concealment of Obiamaka Aduba's body.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- "She deserved so much more than what her life turned out to be like -- it's sad that this is how her life ended."

That's how long-time friend Tiffany R. described the tragedy that befell Obiamaka Aduba, the woman who was found on an abandoned dolly in Mariners Harbor last week.

REMEMBERING "OBIE"
"She was a strong, brave person," said the friend, who lives in the victim's neighborhood and was friends with her since sixth grade. "She had one of the biggest hearts of anybody I know."

"Obie" Aduba, 26, was allegedly strangled by her husband, Anthony Lopez, then wheeled down Richmond Terrace on a dolly Friday morning.

An NYPD officer reportedly recognized Lopez, 31, while he was pulling the dolly because he had arrested him in the past. The officer approached Lopez, who then dumped the body in front of a home on Post Lane and fled, according to cops.

"Hearing what actually happen is horrible," said the friend. "I'm just glad she's in a better place."

SUSPECT NABBED
Lopez was apprehended in East Harlem's 23rd Precinct on Saturday. He was taken into custody following a manhunt using helicopters and dogs.

Police said they found Lopez while acting on a tip and that he was arrested following a brief foot chase. They added that he had shaved his head to disguise his appearance.

He was led out of the 121st Precinct stationhouse in Graniteville after police arrested and charged him with the murder and concealment of Aduba's body Saturday night.

Police on Saturday night filed charges against Lopez in connection with the death of Obiamaka Aduba, 26, of Mariners Harbor.

Lopez plead not guilty to second degree murder during his arraignment Sunday in Richmond County Supreme Court. He was remanded on homicide without bail.

BRUTAL RELATIONSHIP
Published reports say Lopez beat Aduba in the past and had her work as a prostitute. Her mother tried to help her, reports say, to no avail. When reached by telephone on Sunday, a woman who identified herself as Aduba's mother refused to talk about her daughter's brutal death.
"She wasn't a bad person at all -- she was always a true friend," said Tiffany R.
"But she was blinded by Lopez and that's what the sad part is.

"Lopez used to talk to her so bad;He didn't have respect for Aduba."

The suspect has a lengthy criminal history, including 34 prior arrests, 15 of which are sealed. Those prior arrests include charges of robbery, theft and assault, police said.

Lopez has done enough harm in the past and he needs to be put away," the Aduba's friend added. "He should get what he deserves."

Sometimes I wonder if these men are really human or beasts. God help us in this generation.
